Canine Care Schedule
There is nothing better than sweet puppy kisses! We recommend bringing your new 4-legged baby in as soon as you adopt him!
Puppies need vaccines as early as 6 weeks of age and every 2-3 weeks thereafter until they are 16 weeks old. Heart worm prevention should be started at 8 weeks of age. House training and crate training can begin as soon as you bring your puppy home. Remember, you set the rules for your house so start training from day 1! Once your puppy has complete vaccines, socialize your puppy and enroll in puppy classes that use positive, force-free training techniques. If you are considering pet insurance, we recommend taking a policy out on your pet while they are young and do not have any pre existing conditions. Most dogs will need puppy food until their first birthday. Let us know if you have any concerns about your puppy's health or behavior!
At Merrill Animal Clinic we believe early detection is key to a long and healthy life for your canine family member. That is why we include blood work with all of our annual packages. When recommending annual packages, we take into consideration your dog's age, breed, lifestyle, and presentation.
All of our annual packages include an exam with a veterinarian, rabies vaccine, core vaccines (pending lifestyle), fecal and heart worm test.
Please remember to give heart worm prevention monthly!
Did you know that dogs can get the flu as well? We strongly recommend all canines young and old, big and small, be vaccinated against the flu, especially those that frequent kennels, groomer, pet specialty stores and events, parks, and daycares. Dogs can pass the flu through water bowls and toys. Ask us how to help protect your dog!
